"When life gives you hand, make handmade!"

Textile printing is the process of applying colour to fabric in definite patterns or designs. Textile printing is related to dyeing but in dyeing properly the whole fabric is uniformly covered with one colour, whereas in printing one or more colours are applied to it in certain parts only, and in sharply defined patterns. Colourants used in printing contain dyes thickened to prevent the colour from spreading by capillary attraction beyond the limits of the pattern or design.
Vegetable fabric print are the one we know from our childhood but have you ever tried this? Its really interesting thing to do. I have created a scarf with vegetable fabric print. So, what type of vegetables can be used to make fabric prints? You can use vegetables like potatoes, carrots, cabbage, lady's finger etc according to your design. Here i have chosen potato and i have cut them into half. For making star prints i craved star on the potato. Instead of direct dipping into the paint i used sponge to apply paint over the carved star. this gives an even application of paint over the design and also keep the print clean and avoids mess. You can use any type of cloth to make the print like cotton, muslin, silk etc. I have used cotton cloth of 1m in length. After applying paint first step is the trail printing ie, print the design on a rough sheet to check the consistency. After the trail, once your sure its time to print you can print on the cloth.
Dry it or iron it for the colour fast. I have added pompoms to the corner of my scarf for a better look.
